The world-wide interconnection of computer systems imposes new challenges on distributed database systems. In future, they will have to support hundreds or even thousands of sites and many more clients. In this book, control mechanisms for such highly distributed databases are investigated. In particular, concepts for synchronization, deadlock detection and migration are presented and validated through experiments.
