Description
Smart structure technology mimics self-healing biological systems by integrating sensors, actuators, and control systems into materials and structures to enable them to sense and adapt to environmental changes. It is an interdisciplinary field which has, in recent years, become an integral aspect of civil engineering.
This publication presents the proceedings of CESST 2025, the 2nd International Symposium on Civil Engineering and Smart Structure Technology. The conference aims to bring together researchers, scientists, and industry professionals from around the world to share the latest advancements and research findings in the fields of civil engineering and smart structure technology, and to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the development and application of related fields. The conference received a total of 145 full paper submissions, of which 46 were accepted for presentation and publication (an acceptance rate of 32%) following a thorough review process. A wide range of topics are covered, many of which transcend the boundaries of traditional disciplines and embrace interdisciplinary approaches. These include engineering structure; materials science; management science; mathematical physics; computer information technology; mechanical electronics; and optical sensing. The diversity and depth of the papers reflects the multidisciplinary nature of the conference and highlights the interconnectedness of civil engineering and smart structure technologies.
Offering a comprehensive overview of this multidisciplinary field, this volume of proceedings will be a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners, as well as being of interest to all those whose work involves aspects of civil engineering, engineering structure, and smart structure technologies.
