Interest in technological advances as they relate to legal information and knowledge has been growing for decades. Formal and computational models of legal reasoning, data analytics, information retrieval, and the application of machine learning techniques to various legal tasks have all been active research areas and will continue to be so.
This publication presents the proceedings of JURIX 2025, the 38th International Conference on Legal Knowledge and Information Systems, held from 9 to 11 December 2025 in Turin, Italy. The annual JURIX conference has become a respected international forum for academics and professionals to exchange knowledge and experiences at the intersection of law and artificial intelligence (AI). In total, 139 eligible submissions, of which 103 were long papers, were received for this edition. Following a rigorous review process, 22 submissions were selected for publication as long papers and 18 as short papers, representing an overall acceptance rate of 28.7%. An additional 18 submissions were accepted as posters. A wide range of topics is covered, including formal approaches such as deontic logic, case-based reasoning, formal argumentation and other formalisms applied to various aspects of legal reasoning; machine learning and information retrieval methods applied to various natural language processing tasks; hybrid approaches to working on the frontiers between symbolic and sub-symbolic methods; experimental inquiries on interfaces between computational systems and legal systems; and network analysis in the law.
Providing an overview of recent advances, the book will be of interest to all those working at the intersection of law and AI.
