The IAOS is pleased to announce that Fritz Scheuren, former President of the ASA and a senior Fellow and Vice President of the Centre for Excellence in Survey Research at NORC has agreed to be the new Editor-in-Chief of the Statistical Journal of the IAOS.
Stephen Penneck, President IAOS:
"I am delighted that Fritz Scheuren has agreed to be the new Editor-in-Chief of our Statistical Journal, taking over on 15 April. Until then he and I will work together on the Journal.
Fritz is currently a senior Fellow and Vice President of the Centre for Excellence in Survey Research at NORC (University of Chicago) and is also on the faculty of the George Washington University.
He is a former Director of Statistics of Income, which is the statistical component of the US Internal Revenue Service, and prior to that the Chief Mathematical Statistician at the Social Security Administration. He was the 100th President of the American Statistical Association. Lately, he has been working under a special arrangement at the US Census Bureau, looking at how to adopt in the US a variant of the Danish approach to population censuses, now widespread in many European countries".
Fritz Scheuren:
"I am glad to be asked to play this editorial role for the community of International Association for Official Statistics. Thank you Stephen! As a lifetime learner, catching up/keeping up will be fun; of course, renewing old acquaintances and making new ones will be personally/professionally worthwhile".
