Description

The papers in this volume reflect the theme chosen: New Strategies for European Remote Sensing, encompassing records of progress that have been made in finding new applications for these cutting-edge techniques. Whereas in former volumes a balance was sought between purely technical papers and practical applications, the emphasis here is now more on applications that underpin European policies concerning environmental monitoring and security measures for risk prevention. Papers included in this volume cover applications for world heritage sites, alpine remote sensing, coastal zone monitoring, forestry and forest fires, geological hazards, land degradation and ecology. Technical papers cover instruments and methods, data fusion, 3D remote sensing and the exploitation of high resolution data with their ever greater accuracy and finer resolution. A new aspect dealt with is the exploitation of temporal datasets in verifying environmental models with its multi-disciplinary approach. The papers are printed in black and white, which are also to be found in full on the accompanying CD including all full-color illustrations.
