Aims and Scope

The International School of Physics Enrico Fermi was founded in 1953 by Societa' Italiana di Fisica (SIF) and consists of 3 advanced physics courses held every summer in Varenna (on lake Como) by eminent scientists. Its aims are to promote and disseminateup-to-date information on current developments in various topics of contemporary physics. Over the years it has built up a prestigious reputation as a high-quality international school. More than 40 Nobel prize winners presented their lectures in Varenna, out of which 13 had been awarded soon after lecturing there. The books in this series present the proceedings of the courses which are published by SIF and distributed in partnership with IOS Press.
